Mini Haul: Brandy Melville, Aritzia & Forever 21

Saturday, January 25, 2014

Hi everyone! I'm back at it with another haul (have yet to treat my shopping addiction). I recently went home as well as to Montreal so I broke the bank a little and bought a few things. I feel like I really got some staple items that I'll be able to definitely transition into spring weather when it gets warmer (a girl can dream).

You can check out my haul here!

My Life: Montreal Trip!

Friday, January 24, 2014

Hi everyone! I just came back from Montreal with the boyfy and had a ton of fun while I was there. It was nice to escape my college town for a little while. It's not too far and we arrived on wednesday night, and just got back today. I have not been to Montreal since I was a freshman, and my oh my has the shopping changed! Was incredibly impressed with the enormous stores, a lot of them had multiple levels which was awesome and it felt very American-like. I ended up picking up a few things while I was there (keep posted for my haul!).

The main reason why we ventured to Montreal so randomly mid-week is because I actually bought Dylan tickets for J.Cole (one of his fave artists)! It was an amazing show and the venue (Metropolis) was intimate, which is nice because when I'm back in Toronto the venues are ginormous and kind of overwhelming. The set list was also great, and he definitely performed everything that I wanted to hear. We stayed in the heart of downtown Montreal which was great because we could actually walk everywhere, even in this freezing weather (in Montreal it was minus 27! Can you believe it?!).

I wish I took more photos of my outfits, but honestly it was so cold I didn't think to take out my camera.  I layered and paired hoodies with tight pants, which I personally find quite warm. It wasn't too snowy so I was able to wear regular shoes. Above is an outfit that I wore on one of the days. The A$AP Rocky shirt was such a lucky find in the H&M men's section. Dylan loved it too so he also got one for himself (hahahaha).

Skort - Aritzia
Shoes - Aldo

This is actually the only photo that I took of my outfit for the concert. It wasn't supposed to be for the blog, I actually asked Dylan to take it because there was no full length mirror in our room. I know I'm late on the bandwagon, but I'm loving this skort! It's a perfect piece to bring from day to night.

Anyways, super tired from a long day. See you guys soon!

Outfit of the Day: Leather Skirt & Oversized Turtleneck

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

Hi everyone! I'm back with another outfit of the day. I realized that a lot of my outfits are quite similar so I decided to mix in one of my fave pieces at the moment: my leatherette skirt from H&M. I love the pleating and it's a super cute piece, but it's difficult to maintain. SUPER difficult actually! I find that it must lie flat at all times, and the slightest bend compromises it.

This large turtle neck with an asymmetrical hem from H&M is such a fun way to layer and keep warm in this super chilly weather. It's from Zara, and I actually purchased it in size large so the length would go well with leggings.  I went for a more "school girl" vibe by adding these tights that give the illusion that I'm wearing knee-high socks, and my fave black boots. Adding the cap was also a fun touch that I put on last minute.

Outfit of the Day: Slouchy Shirts & Camo Tie-arounds

Thursday, January 9, 2014

Hey everyone! Thought I'd share a quick outfit of the day with you all! It's been super cold this week... one of my housemates just informed that some places in Canada are even colder than Mars! Decided to go casual today with a beanie and my vintage camo shirt that I bought in an army surplus store. Check out my video here!

I'm trying to mix it up for school this semester and be a little more stylish then just wearing leggings all the time... so far, I'm off to an okay start!

New Room Decor! Small Changes...

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

Hey everyone! I'm excited to be back and settled into my student home. I felt like it needed a breath of fresh air so I'm slowly trying to add in a few accessories to give it a more updated feel. Here are a few change-arounds that I did to my room that quickly spruce up my room!

1. LOVE PILLOWS: I got these at Urban Outfitters yesterday, but I've been eyeing them for quite some time. I was nervous when I saw them because I was afraid that they wouldn't match the softness of my room. I'm really pleased with the way they turned out! They make my room a lot more funky, and more the look that I'm really into right now.
2. FURRY PILLOW: I've been looking for a furry pillow for a long time and found this one at Homesense and am delightfully pleased!! Ideally I would like to have a pretty throw pillow and a throw on this to make it a complete little corner, but for nowI'm happy with just the pillow. Fur adds an awesome new texture, so that the area feels more updated without added another colour to the mix.
3. WOVEN BASKETS: I had these plastic baskets on the shelf at the foot of my bed but they didn't hold much. My boyfriend actually packaged my christmas gifts in these baskets and I thought they would look nice in my room (and also add some black detail to mesh with the frames above my bed and the new pillowcases) They fit alot more and I store school supplies as well as books in them!
4. VOLUSPA MOKARA CANDLE: My friend Jocelynn (Dylan's sister) got me this for Christmas and it's my FAVE candle EVER. I actually included it in one of my gift guides! The smell is amazing and the jar is actually gorgeous so I love to put it on display.

Anyway, those are the subtle changes that I made thus far! Hope you guys enjoyed!

Winter Haul: Forever 21, Aritzia & Zara

Friday, January 3, 2014

Hey everyone! I decided to roll out of bed today and do something productive, so why not blog? Today I filmed a haul video showing you guys what I bought over my winter break! I bought a lot of staples that can carry me into spring, but also keep me warm during the winter months. Check out the video below to see what I bought this break!

It took me quite a while to edit and film because I'm not in my usual set up. The iMovie update took a while to get used to! I see myself liking it in the near future but for now it's sort of a struggle.

Outfit of the Day: Wax Jeans, Graphic Tees & Tie-arounds

Thursday, January 2, 2014

Hi everyone! Here is a quick outfit post! I recently got waxed jeans as a gift for Christmas (thanks Dylan!) and they are probably the most comfortable jeans that I own at the moment. I've worn them so many times since I've got them, I feel that they can be dressed up and down, and in this case, super casual! Pairing them with Nikes makes them edgy, and with the right accessories, this look becomes a fun, casual outfit. Check out my outfit video below!

Since I worked at Brandy Melville this summer, I've been obsessed with "tie-arounds": tying a shirt around my waist. It adds a layered look without being too bulky, and you're also able to add different textures to your outfit in a subtle way.

Hat: H&M
T-Shirt: Aritzia
Chambray Shirt: Hollister
Jeans: Club Monaco
Shoes: Nike

5 Tips on Starting Your Own Youtube Channel!

Hi everyone! I'm back with a few tips on getting started creating your own Youtube channel! I've had an awesome experience with making videos the last couple of years, I've learned a few tips and tricks that I would love to share with you all.

1. One thing to note is that your first few videos will most likely be a little awkward (mine sure were! Please don't try to look for them...). That being said, don't let that stop you from posting! If you are looking into fashion and beauty videos, try to do some of the classic videos (ie. What's in my bag, Makeup starter kit) to help you ease into it.
2. High Quality: Clear, high quality videos with good sound are definitely the way to go. You'll want to produce videos that are clear and easy to watch.  However, this doesn't mean you need a really expensive camera; Most point and shoots are now equipped with HD settings, so as long as you have a large enough memory card, you're good to go!
3. Make short videos - I find that the videos that are the most popular on my channel are the ones that are on the shorter side, I suggest to keep them around 5-10 minutes at the longest. I currently am trying to make my videos all around 5 minutes! I feel that if the video is shorter, it gets straight to the point and that makes it much more interesting.
4. Don't get discouraged from negative comments or dislikes. I usually take negative comments with a grain of salt, some are actually very helpful and make good constructive criticism, while some are just bully comments. I've had my fair share of not-so-nice comments left to me on my Youtube, and my advice is just to delete them; they're not important and there's no need for them once you've read them. Focus on the positive! I've had so many amazing subscribers reach out to me and are extremely supportive!
5. Be consistent! This is the most important! One of the struggles that I've faced with my Youtube channel is to keep a constant schedule. Subscribers come with time, but come much faster if you are posting content on a regular basis. Whether it's once a week or once a month, make it a regular thing so this way you're not MIA on your subscriber base for six months (I'm extremely guilty of this).

And those are my 5 tips! Have a Youtube? E-mail me a link or comment below! I'd LOVE to see it!
